World Cup betting players know all about injuries, and the Los Angeles Angels just suffered a loss that could end their hopes for a fourth crown in the American League West.
First baseman Kendry Morales suffered one of the strangest injuries you'll ever hear about as he fractured his left ankle while celebrating a walk-off grand slam in a 5-1 win over Seattle on Saturday night. Morales was leading the Angels in homers (11), RBIs (39) and batting average (.290), and he's a very good fielder at first for Los Angeles, who will have their full replacing Morales. It must be even tougher if they look at their division rivals from Texas, where they traded longtime slugger Vladdy Guerrero, and Guerrero has been getting hot as of late. Morales could return before the end of the northbet.com baseball season, but it won't be until September at the earliest.
So, how will the Angels deal with this? There are a few big hitters out there, but Jermaine Dye and Carlos Delgado are getting up there in age, along with Paul Konerko and Lance Berkman, who may be allowed to leave their teams because of big contracts. But make no mistake, the Angels will miss Morales, who not only added a lot on the field, but he's well liked by his teammates and coaching staff. But concentrating on the on-field aspect, the Angels are going to have a tough time finding someone to replace a guy who was fifth in the MVP voting last year, and this is going to have a major effect on their sports betting odds.
